Arm (away)your code
- An LED keypad's READY light must be on; an LCD shows SYSTEM READY. You can't arm with a zone open.
- Not ready? An LED keypad lights the zones that aren't ready; an LCD shows SYSTEM NOT READY and the zone. Close them, or bypass them.
- Key in your 4-digit code. The ARM light comes on and an LCD shows ON AWAY.
- Leave through your entry/exit door before the exit delay ends.
Arm while homeSTAYyour codeorINSTANTSTAYyour code
- Stay arms the outside doors and windows but leaves the inside zones off, so you can move about.
- When the system is ready, press [STAY], then your code. The ARM light comes on, plus STAY on an LED keypad; an LCD shows ON: STAY.
- No entry delay as well: [INSTANT] and [STAY] in either order, then your code (ON: STAY INSTANT). Anyone coming in sets it off at once.
- [INSTANT] on its own arms the inside zones too, so it's not for staying home.
- Stay and Instant are cleared when you disarm. Disarm before you go out.

- Your code also resets the system if you set it off by mistake.

Bypass a zoneBYPASSyour codezone
- Each detector or door contact is a zone. A bypassed zone is not protected while the system is armed.
- With the system disarmed, press [BYPASS], key in your code, then the zone number (1 to 6).
- A beep confirms it. An LED keypad blinks the zone's light slowly; an LCD shows the bypassed zone on its second line.
- For another zone within 10 seconds, press [BYPASS] and the zone number. Do the same again to unbypass.
- Fire zones can't be bypassed. Bypassed burglary zones normally go back to normal when you disarm.
Alarm memoryyour code
- During an alarm the keypad sounds steady for a burglary and pulses for a fire. An LCD shows ALARM and the zone.
- Key in your code to disarm. An LCD then shows ALARM MEM and the zone; an LED keypad blinks READY and that zone's light fast.
- Key in your code again to clear the display and silence the keypad.
Reset smoke detectorsyour code
- In a fire alarm an LED keypad blinks the fire zone's light and the ARM light fast; an LCD flashes ALARM. The keypad sounder pulses.
- If there's any chance of a real fire, get everyone out first.
- Key in your code: it silences the bells and resets the smoke detectors.
Panic alarm#+*
- Press [#] and [*] at the same time. It works 24 hours a day, armed or not.
- On an XL4600SM keypad, pressing the two keys marked P together does the same.
- Your installer sets it to be silent or to sound the siren. Key in your code to reset a sounding panic.
- Forced to disarm? If your installer has set up ambush, user code 6 also sends an emergency signal.
Change a codeCODEmaster codeuser numbernew code
- Only the master (user 1) can add or change codes. There are up to 6 users. Do this while disarmed.
- Press [CODE], key in the master code, the user number (1 to 6), then the new 4-digit code.
- A steady tone means it worked. Four quick beeps mean it didn't: start again from [CODE].
- To delete a user: [CODE], master code, user number (2 to 6), then [*]. User 1 can't be deleted.
Test the systemyour code
- Monitored? Tell your monitoring company before you start.
- Arm the system, then open a protected door or window.
- Check the siren or bell sounds. If you're monitored, the keypad gives a ringback to show the signal got through.
- Key in your code to disarm and silence it. The manual suggests testing once a week.
Trouble lights
- On an LED keypad, the zone lights and status lights show the system's state. A pulsing keypad sounder means a trouble, or a fire alarm if the bells are going too.
- Mains off for 15 minutes, or a low battery, makes the keypad buzzer pulse. Key in your code to silence it.
- After disarming, key your code in again to clear an alarm or trouble from the display and silence the keypad.
- Several short beeps (the ringback) mean a signal got through to the monitoring station.
- Call your installer about any trouble you can't clear.

Is anyone watching your alarm?
An alarm that only makes a noise relies on someone hearing it. A monitored alarm reports to our A1 graded, NZSA approved control room, watched 24/7 by a team that is New Zealand owned and operated. We can monitor most existing alarms, so you may not need a new one. Thinking about a new alarm or security cameras? Ask us for a quote.
