St. Luke's Church Fair St. Luke's Church at Castlecliff held the annual fair in the Town Hall recently. Above left: Mrs Flintoff won a super fire engine for her three boys pictured here. Kerry, Ross and Alan with their new toy. Above right: The sewing stall and the used clothes were a great draw. Below left: Soft drinks were popular with the younger set: Bruce Lhonneux, Wendy Upchurch, Bert Booth, Robert Montgomery and Alan Sammons. WOMEN'S BOWLS The Memorial Hall was the venue for the annual R.S.A. bowling tournament for women bowlers. They came from far and near--from Hastings, Napier, Dannevirke, Waverley and Patea and many other centres (86 teams were entered in the tournament and the hall was taxed to the utmost). Above: A view across the hall while games were being played. The winning team: Mesdames L.Bowyer, J.Nicole, M. Anderson and J.Harvey--a Wanganui team at that! The runners up: Mesdames J.Waters, D.Stamper, S.Sammons and P.Bourne--a Wanganui team again. Mrs E.Templeton, president of the R.S.A. Women's section, opened the tournament.
