  • Arm (away)your code
    • Close the doors and windows first: the RDY light must be on (an LCD keypad shows SYSTEM READY).
    • RDY off? On an LED keypad a zone light on steady shows which zone is open; an LCD shows NOT RDY and the zone. Close it, or bypass it.
    • Key in your 4-digit code. The ARM light comes on and an LCD keypad shows ON AWAY.
    • Leave through your entry/exit door before the exit delay runs out.
    • If your installer has turned on quick arming, # then 1 arms without a code. You still need a code to disarm.

  • Arm while homeSTAYyour codeorINSTANTSTAYyour code
    • Stay arms the outside doors and windows but leaves the inside zones off, so you can move around inside.
    • When the system is ready (RDY light on), press STAY, then your code.
    • The ARM light comes on. The XL4612RM's RDY light blinks slowly; an XL4800 LED keypad lights STAY; an LCD shows ON: STAY.
    • INSTANT and STAY in either order, then your code, also drops the entry delay. You can't go out through an entry/exit door in this mode.
    • Stay and Instant switch off when you disarm. Disarm before you go out.

  • Disarmyour code
    • Key in your code. The ARM light goes out and an LCD keypad shows SYSTEM READY.
    • Your code also resets the system after a false alarm, such as a window opened while armed or smoke setting off the fire alarm.
    • If the alarm went off while you were out, don't go inside until the place has been made safe.

  • Bypass a zoneBYPASSyour codezone
    • Each detector or door contact is a zone. A bypassed zone isn't protected while the system is armed.
    • Press BYPASS, key in your code, then the zone number. BYPASS, code, 2 bypasses zone 2.
    • The keypad gives a steady beep. An LED keypad blinks the zone light slowly; an LCD shows BYPASS with the zone number and name.
    • Do the same again to unbypass it. While the system is armed, a zone that is still open stays bypassed.

    • After an alarm, disarm with your code. On an LED keypad, the light of any zone that went into alarm blinks fast.
    • An LCD keypad shows ALARM MEM and the zone, such as ZN 01 FRONT DOOR.
    • At the keypad, a burglary alarm sounds steady and a fire alarm sounds pulsed.
    • Key in your code again to clear the display and silence the keypad.

  • Chime on or off#6
    • Chime makes the keypad sound for one second when chosen zones, such as the front door, open while disarmed.
    • Chime is an option: it works if your installer has set it up.
    • Press # then 6 to turn it on. Press # then 6 again to turn it off.

    • Press two keys at the same time: * and # for Panic, 7 and 9 for Fire, 1 and 3 for Auxiliary.
    • Your installer has to turn these on. Ask them which ones work on your system.
    • Forced by someone to go inside? If your installer has set up ambush, user 30's code sends an emergency signal to your monitoring centre.

    • Press # then 3, key in your code, then the time as 4 digits on the 24-hour clock.
    • For example # 3, your code, then 1430 sets the clock to 2:30 pm.
    • LED keypad lights blinking fast in turn every 30 seconds (an LCD shows a message) mean the clock needs setting, such as after a long total power loss.
    • Your installer can tell you if your system needs the code for this.

  • Trouble lights
    • The XL4612RM keypad has a light for each zone, plus the ARM, AC/LB and RDY lights.
    • While the system is armed, RDY shows how: off for away, a slow blink for Stay, a faster blink for Instant.
    • After an alarm or trouble, disarm, then key your code in again to clear the display and silence the keypad.
    • Beeping non-stop after 21 key presses with no valid code? Key in your code to silence it.
    • A beep every 30 seconds can be the auto-arm warning, if your installer set one up. Your code cancels today's auto-arm.

Why is my keypad beeping or showing a trouble light?

Most keypads beep or light up a trouble indicator when something needs attention, such as a low backup battery, a power cut or a lost phone or internet connection. Your user guide explains what each light or code means on your model. If it keeps happening, or you are not sure, call your installer or monitoring company.

Is anyone watching your alarm?

An alarm that only makes a noise relies on someone hearing it. A monitored alarm reports to our A1 graded, NZSA approved control room, watched 24/7 by a team that is New Zealand owned and operated. We can monitor most existing alarms, so you may not need a new one. Thinking about a new alarm or security cameras? Ask us for a quote.
