Keypad cheat sheet

  • Arm (away)your code#or1#
    • Key in your code, then press #. Button 1 on a Lynx remote does the same.
    • If every zone is clear you hear a steady tone, and the yellow status light and the lights of the zones being armed come on.
    • The keypad keeps sounding for the whole exit time. That is your cue to leave.
    • Flashing zone lights with a pulsing tone mean a zone is not secure. On some systems that is normal: ask your security company.
    • If your installer has turned on single button arming, 1 then # arms without a code.

  • Arm while home91#
    • Lynx calls this NIGHT MODE. Only the zones your installer set as night zones arm.
    • Press 9, 1, then #. Button 2 on a Lynx remote does the same.
    • Lynx waits 20 seconds, without beeping, for the detectors to settle. Two beeps tell you it has armed.
    • It will not arm in night mode while a zone is set off, such as a door left open.
    • Two areas? 9, 1, # arms area A's night zones and 9, 2, # arms area B's.

  • Disarmyour code#
    • As you come in, the keypad beeps through the entry time. Disarm before it ends or the alarm sounds.
    • Key in your code, then press #. Button 1 on a remote does the same (button 2 after night mode), except during a full alarm.
    • Two short beeps, and the yellow status light goes out. One long tone means the code was wrong.
    • A flashing zone light shows the zone that went into alarm. Note the number and tell your security company.
    • Your code and # also stops a fire alarm or any other alarm, at any keypad.

  • Bypass a zoneyour code*zone#
    • Lynx calls this excluding a zone. Each detector or door contact is a zone.
    • Key in your code, press *, then the zone number, then #.
    • The system arms with that zone left out.

  • Chime on or off7#
    • Press 7, then #. Two beeps: chime is on.
    • While disarmed, the keypad beeps about five times when a detector your installer set up for chime is set off.
    • Arming turns chime off. Turn it on again after you disarm.
    • Press 7, then # again to turn it off (two beeps).

  • Panic alarm*+#
    • If your installer has turned it on, press * and # together.
    • Holding any button on a Lynx remote for 4 seconds also starts a panic alarm.

    • To cancel it, key in any valid code, then #.

  • Trouble lights
    • The yellow status light shows what the system is doing.
    • With two areas, S1 is area A and S2 is area B. S2 flashing means a fault or a panic alarm in either area.

Why is my keypad beeping or showing a trouble light?

Most keypads beep or light up a trouble indicator when something needs attention, such as a low backup battery, a power cut or a lost phone or internet connection. Your user guide explains what each light or code means on your model. If it keeps happening, or you are not sure, call your installer or monitoring company.

Is anyone watching your alarm?

An alarm that only makes a noise relies on someone hearing it. A monitored alarm reports to our A1 graded, NZSA approved control room, watched 24/7 by a team that is New Zealand owned and operated. We can monitor most existing alarms, so you may not need a new one. Thinking about a new alarm or security cameras? Ask us for a quote.
