- Close doors and windows. Wait until Ready or OK is lit, or the Not Ready light is off.
- Press ARM (arm on Saturn), your code, then E. Three beeps sound and ARMED shows.
- Shortcuts, if your installer has turned them on: [ARM] then [E], or your code then [E].
- Leave before the exit time ends. 3 beeps mark its end.
- 10 beeps instead of 3: mains off or battery low. A 2-second siren at the end: an open zone was excluded.
Arm while homeHOMEyour codeEorHOMEEhomeyour codeEorhomeE
- Ness calls this Home mode. The button is HOME on KPX and home on Saturn; older keypads use MONITOR.
- Only the zones your installer chose, usually doors and windows, are armed. Disarm fully first.
- Press [HOME], key in your code, then [E]. [HOME] then [E] alone works if your installer allows it.
- The HOME icon comes on (on an ECO8x, the HOME key lights). Older keypads show MONITOR, or flash ARMED on the LED keypad.
- Key in your code and [E] to come out of it. This also stops an alarm; re-arm if needed.
Disarmyour codeE
- Come in through your usual entry door. The keypad beeps as a reminder, if entry beeps are turned on.
- Key in your code, then press [E] (ENTER on the older LED keypad). ARMED goes off; on an ECO8x the ARM key's light goes out.
- Made a mistake? Press [E] and start again. Five wrong codes in a row set off the alarm.
- Your code and [E] also stop an alarm. A flashing strobe light outside means an alarm in the last 72 hours.
- If your installer turned on duress, 5, 6, 8 or 9 before your code disarms and sends a silent alarm.
Bypass a zoneEXCLUDEyour codeEzoneEEorEXCLUDEEzoneEEexcludeyour codeEzoneEEorexcludeEzoneEE
- Use EXCLUDE on KPX or exclude on Saturn. On an ECO8x, the key is marked EXC.
- Ness calls this Exclude: an excluded zone can't set off the alarm. Press [EXCLUDE], your code, then [E]; the EXCLUDE light comes on.
- Key in the zone number and press [E]; its light comes on. Repeat for more zones. Doing it again includes the zone.
- Press [E] to finish. EXCLUDE flashes while any zone is excluded; if it stays steady, you're still in Exclude mode.
- Excluded zones come back when you next disarm. [EXCLUDE] [E] without a code works only while disarmed, if your installer allows it.
Alarm memoryMEMORYyour codeEorMEMORYEmemoryyour codeEormemoryE
- Use MEMORY on KPX or memory on Saturn. On an ECO8x, the key is marked MEM.
- A flashing MEMORY light means there has been an alarm. Disarm first: memory only opens while disarmed.
- Press [MEMORY], key in your code, then [E]. [MEMORY] [E] is enough if your installer has turned on the shortcut.
- Press [MEMORY] once for each event, newest first, up to 30. The lights show what happened (see the table).
- Press [E] to leave. The MEMORY light stops flashing once you've looked.

- Press [0] then [E] to turn Day mode on or off. While it's on, the HOME icon or light flashes (MONITOR on older LCD keypads).
- To pick zones: press [P] then [E] (PROGRAM, ENTER on the older LED keypad). Key each zone number and [E], then [E] to save.
- Your installer sets whether it beeps the keypad, the siren or the strobe, and may have set some day zones for you.

- KPX: hold * and # (shield keys) together for at least 1.5 seconds, if your installer enabled it. Saturn: press both keys marked panic.
- ECO8x: press the flame and cross keys together, if enabled. Older LCD: both * keys; older LED: both PANIC keys.
- On a KPX or older LCD, * then your code then E also works; * then E needs the panic shortcut enabled. Panic may be loud or silent. Code then E stops sirens.
- If enabled: fire is 3 then E; medical is 2 then E. XCEL: press 1+3 together for fire, 4+6 for medical. ECO8x: flame then E, cross then E.

- Press [P], then 2 and the 2-digit user number (01 to 56), then [E]. User 2 is P 2 0 2 E.

- Press [P], a setting number, then [E]: 341 hours, 340 minutes, 342 day, 343 month, 344 year (00 to 63).
- Key in the new value and press [E]. When you're done, press [P] then [E] to leave.
- Change the hours when daylight saving starts and ends. An XCEL with a working SIM card sets its own clock.
Trouble lights
- 10 beeps: mains off, a low backup battery, or on newer panels a low wireless battery or phone line fault.
- Check the plug-pack is plugged in and the power point is switched on. If the battery light keeps flashing, call your installer.
- Slow non-stop beeps: AutoTime, such as auto-arming, is due. Any key quiets them until the last minute; if your installer allows it, your code without E delays it an hour.
- Non-stop beeping with the aerial, TAMPER and a zone number flashing is a wireless detector tamper. Any key stops it; call your installer.
- Siren while disarmed: a 24-hour zone, such as a tamper or panic, went off. Code then [E] stops it; call your installer.

Why is my keypad beeping or showing a trouble light?
Most keypads beep or light up a trouble indicator when something needs attention, such as a low backup battery, a power cut or a lost phone or internet connection. Your user guide explains what each light or code means on your model. If it keeps happening, or you are not sure, call your installer or monitoring company.

Is anyone watching your alarm?
An alarm that only makes a noise relies on someone hearing it. A monitored alarm reports to our A1 graded, NZSA approved control room, watched 24/7 by a team that is New Zealand owned and operated. We can monitor most existing alarms, so you may not need a new one. Thinking about a new alarm or security cameras? Ask us for a quote.
